Mann’s Floral Shoppe will be celebrating its 25th year in the year 2001. Gloria Mann started the business as a greenhouse then added the floral shop two years later. The business has grown through the years to include a staff of seven designers. The spring of 2000 brought a terrific shock as the floral shop was totally destroyed by fire early on Easter Sunday morning. Thanks to a wonderful fellow florist, our designers worked in the back of her shop and fulfilled the three weddings scheduled the week of the fire. We continued to work through the summer in a leased mobile office and cooling truck while our new building was being completed. Gloria boasts about some pretty wonderful employees, willing to design flowers, hang insulation, wallpaper, paint, and unload lumber. On October 2nd, we will be opening up in the new building. Our setting is in the country overlooking the Illinois River. We have always said, "We are as close as your phone, but the drive is always worth the trip."
